The Nigeria Customs Service, Niger/Kwara/Kogi Command on its effort to ensure the prevention of illegal importation of vehicles, and other preventive items into the country, the command has made a visible and tremendous improvement in revenue generation under the able leadership of Comptroller Yusuf Abba Kasim who is the Area controller of the Command. The Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the command, ASC I Benjamin Lomba on press release made available to newsmen. The Controller says, his command will continue to work hard to ensure adequate policing of the command border to prevent smuggling. Below are brake-down for revenue figure.
REVENUE FIGURE FOR THE YEAR 2018 OF NIGER/KWARA/KOGI AREA COMMAND.
Below are break down of seizures made in 2018.
1. 41 vehicles with duty paid value of N64,530,936
2. 12,497 (50kg) bags of rice with duty value of N285,094,700
3. 17,300 litres of vegetable oil valued at N8,306,200
4. 189,000 peices of Ammunition valued at N63,504,000
5. OTHER GENERAL GOODS consisting of second hand clothing, shoes etc with a duty paid value of N5,530,836 making a GRAND TOTAL of N426,966,672 for the value of all the items seized in the past year.
The Command generated a Total revenue figure of N2,434,028,554.66 from January to December 2018.
