The Niger/Kwara/Kogi Area Command of the Nigeria customs service was awarded certificate of merit by the world customs organization on the 20th of January 2018 during the international Customs Day celebration at Abuja.
The award is for RENDERING EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE TO THE INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMS COMMUNITY.
The Customs Area Controller Compt. Y AbbA-Kasim was given the award by the Comptroller General of Customs on behalf of the world Customs Organization (WCO)
It would be recall that during the period under review, a lot of strategic measures were put in place that yielded positive harvest which result to the Seizures of Seven Hundred and fifty (750) cartons of One Hundred Eighty Nine Thousand (189,000) Live Ammunition worth Sixty Three Million Five Hundred and Four Thousand (63,504,000).
The Command has continued to leave up to expectations of the service in the area of revenue generation and in anti-smuggling activities. The Command record 134 seizures and generates N,434,028,554.66 Billion into the federation account.
The strategic and momentous seizures among them include:
(a) RICE: A total Number of Twelve Thousand, Four hundred and Ninety
Seven (12,497) 50kg Bags of Rice were arrested within the period under
Eighty Five Million, Ninety Four Thousand, Seven hundred Naira
(N 285,094,700).
(b)
vehicles with duty Paid value of Sixty Four Million, five hundred and thirty
thousand, Nine hundred and thirty-Six Naira (N 64,530,936) only
(C) GENERAL MERCHANDISE: The Command made seizaure of
of Five Million, Five Hundred and Thirty thousand, Eight Hundred and
Thirty Six Naira (N5, 530,836).
(d) VEGETABLE OIL- The command recorded seizures of Vegetable
Oil (17,300 Liters) with duty paid Value of Eight Million, Three hundred
and Six Thousand Two Hundred Naira only (N8, 306,200).
