Asattahir Foundation Call for Peace as the World Celebrate Peace Day

The Executive Chairman of ASATTAHIR INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION, Malam Aliyu Sidi Attahiru Sokoto, has called on Nigerians to step up efforts aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence among the people.
Malam Attahiru Sokoto made the call in a message marking the UN World Peace Day September 21, 2019.
He said peacemaking and conflict prevention, mitigation and resolution had become necessary in view of present realities in the country.

He said  a lot would have been achieved if we will all live in peace and hamorny and live like brothers.

According to him, the modest achievements recorded so far in Asattahir International Foundation was it  collaboration during 2019 election with INEC, the humanatirian service aspect include scholarship to blind and orphan children from primary to titary education, provide support to the underage victims of sexual exploitation in Sokoto, providing shelter to Internal displace persons IDPs, to part on seminars on mitigating violence against women
between Asattahir International Foundation and major stakeholders including Community Based Organisations (CBOS) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) as well as development partners including NAPTIP, NEMA, among others.
Malam Attahiru enjoined the people in Nigeria and the world in general continue to work hard to sustain the peace being currently enjoyed, Asattahir has collaborated with CBOs and NGOs in peacemaking efforts as well as capacity building of peace ambassadors, volunteers and traditional rulers among others.
The International Day of Peace organized by the UN is observed around the World on 21st  September and is devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.

The United Nations member states adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals in 2015 because they understood that it would not be possible to build a peaceful world if steps were not taken to achieve economic and social development for all people everywhere, and ensure that their rights were protected.

Amongst them is Sustainable Development Goal 13 “Climate Action” which is a call for immediate action by all to lower greenhouse emissions, build resilience and improve education on climate change.

This year’s theme is “Climate Action for Peace” and draws attention to the importance of combatting climate change as a way to protect and promote peace throughout the world.
