NCS kano/jigawa command records tremendous achievements in revenue generation, others in two years

The Nigeria Customs Service Kano/Jigawa Area Command  has achieved enhanced professionalism, robust anti-smuggling operations, spectacular seizures and highest ever revenue collection of more than a Seven Billion naira which surpassed it mid-year target,
the revenue was realised between January and June, 2019.

Saddled with present administration mandate to restructure, reforms and to boost revenue collection of the Service, Kano/Jigwa area command under the able supervision of  Comptroller Nasir Ahmed, recorded tremendous achievements.

Our findings revealed to us that,  there was an increase in the number of seizures, anti-smuggling operations and revenue generation.

As we all know that fiscal government policies brought about the banning of vehicles and importation of rice through the land borders and the customs Kan/Jigawa area command have made tremendous success in the area of enforcement.

A lot of spectacular seizures were made including vehicles and fake vegetable oil.

The command impounded containers of contraband imported vegetable cooking oil with estimated Duty Paid Value (DPV), of 44 million Naira at the APM Terminal along Zaria road in Kano State.

Each container was loaded with over 1000 jerry cans of 25 litres of foreign vegetable cooking oil, which the products are out rightly contraband. They are not supposed to be imported not to talk of being in the market.

The Area Controller Nigeria Customs Service Kano/Jigawa command compt. Nasir in a chat with team of journalists when they visited his office, he said, the NCS would continue to sustain in its efforts to fight against all forms of smuggling activities with a view to comply with the directives of checkmating the illegal activities going on around borders and Sea ports.

He reiterated that the service has the statutory duty of safeguarding the society from any harmful products banned from coming into the country hence, would not relent in arresting and prosecuting anyone caught supplying such products.

He appealed to the general public to further join hands with the Customs and other sister agencies to expose individuals or group of persons who are importing contraband products into the country.
